Fiery Furnace

The Fiery Furnace hike in Arches National Park winds through a labyrinth of rock formations and narrow slots and is not a clearly defined path. It's a popular destination with beautiful and varied terrain.
The park service does an excellent job of managing this area by limiting the number of visitors at any one time, so it is by no means crowded. As such, reservations are required; those entering without a permit face a fine. The park rangers there tell me they occasionally have visitors enter without a reservation, thinking they they will just go ahead and face the fine, But additionally, violators must appear in person. If you are traveling from out of the country this can be costly and time comsuming! - Martin van Hemert
